How would you describe the art and the inspiration behind it?
The wings of the Black Crane Emperor have grown too long, his talons too sharp. Murmurs of rebellion disquiet the isles, growing loudest amongst the sailors he has misruled for so long. Soon, amidst fire and salt spray, there will be an Uprising on The Peacock Sea!
I have been hinting for some time that there are many discontent and rebellious groups in the world. The Black Crane Emperor rules oppressively and has left many feeling downtrodden and powerless, the macaques more than anyone.
The Peacock Sea is a narrow sea rich with trade. In recent years, however, traders find themselves more and more under the thumb (or wing) of high-ranking waterbird merchants. Many sailors have been left destitute and rebellion grows.
Uprising on The Peacock Sea is the first glimpse into this new part of the world, presenting the kind of characters that inhabit it. It's a prologue before the story itself begins, where we will follow a motley crew of traders-turned-pirates and see how their actions shape the rebellion.

About Fionn Jordan
Fionn Jordan is an illustrator from The Lake District, UK. He moved to Japan in 2014 with almost no plan and even less money. During his travels through Asia Pacific, Fionn began to develop a world through his artwork, inhabited by the impressions of people, animals and places he encountered on his travels. Fionn's passion for nature and exploration takes him to unlikely places: an abandoned lumber camp deep in the forests of Shikoku, sleepy islands off the Korean South coast, the Taiwan Strait, stranded on an upturned sailing boat. He now lives between the UK and Taiwan, creating his hand drawn art to capture such a sense of travel and adventure.
